Brommapojkarna in top of the 2017 youth academy ranking

The 2017 certification visits to all the 62 member clubs in the Tipselit network has been completed. Once again Brommapojkarna is in the top spot when grading all the youth academies.
”We have a long club tradition of player education and in developing players”, says Mikael Sörnäs, Head of the Youth Academy in Brommapojkarna.

In the 2017 season, 16-year-old players Jack Lahne and Fredrik Hammar, both made their debut in Swedish second division Superettan and Brommapojkarna increases their total score by 930 points compared with the 2016 results.

”We have many good players coming up from below and we regularly give them the chance in the first team. This is what we are known for. It is necessary to give them the chance to play”, Mikael Sörnäs says.

”We are always trying to develop the structure in the club. We always make sure we have skilled coaches in our younger teams.”

In 2018, Brommapojkarna are back in Swedish top division Allsvenskan, which means that the talents who will get the chance to play in the first team during the season will be able to play on a higher level than in the previous two seasons.

”We have a couple of players who have apprenticeship contracts and, for example, Emre Erdogdu has already played in the Swedish cup this year. Players showing that they want to play always get the chance to do so.”

The youth academy ranking is primarily not intended as a competition where one club should be the best, instead it is a quality assurance of Swedish talent development and the clubs themselves, by developing their activities from year to year. Every club is being measured by their players, their coaches, training facilities and how previously players succeeded in their career.

”For us, the certification visits are great. They give an indication of what to aim for. I think that Swedish Elite Football does well in saying what is needed. The certification visits are a great guide to developing our business. We can not be contented and remain in the same spot forever, we need to develop every single year, and the visits are a good hint what we expect to do”.

Last year’s top ranked club, Malmö FF, also makes a nice season in 2017. MFF increases their total score by almost 400 points. Elfsborg, who played three out of four youth finals for two consecutive seasons, gets the third most score for the work in their academy.

It is also worth mentioning that IFK Norrköping raises their score by over 200 points, making them the tenth club with a maximum of five stars in the youth academy ranking.
