SELECT announces that the official matchball for Allsvenskan and Superettan will change its color to yellow during 2018.
”We want a clearer and more visible ball,” says Richard Kjell, Country Sales Manager at SELECT Sport.

The matchball from SELECT was in use in Allsvenskan and Superettan for the first time in 2017 and will be used for another three seasons according to the first agreement. During the first year, 1351 goals was scored with the SELECT ball during 480 matches in Allsvenskan and Superettan.

In 2018, the teams in Allsvenskan and Superettan play with the same ball, except the SELECT change of color to yellow. SELECT wants to make the ball more visible, but they are also interested in to kill an old myth.
”The ball becomes more visible to both players, goalkeeper and the audience, but we also want to show that a yellow ball not only belongs to artificial grass or to winter pitches”, says Richard Kjell.

SELECT is also very pleased with how the ball was received by the players. Before the season, most people were pleased that Allsvenskan and Superettan for the first time were going to have a single single matchball, but there was little said a little about the ball itself. But during the season, SELECT has received many, and very positive feedback on the ball.

”Players and goalkeeper have had their time to get to know the ball and because it is the same ball in each match, the characteristics of the ball does not differ from one game to another. We have only received positive feedback”, Richard Kjell says.

Previously, the Premier League and La Liga among others also play with a yellow ball.
