in 2019 Allsvenskan and Superettan enter their third season with a official league match ball from SELECT. Just like previous years, the match ball will have a new look compared to the last season. 2019 will be played with a yellow ball with blue elements.
”We have chosen this ball to increase the visibility of the ball while increasing the link to the country of Sweden by applying more colors”, says Richard Kjell, Country Sales Manager at Svenska SELECT Sport AB.
The SELECT matchball started to be used for the first time in 2017 and it will be used in two more seasons according to the first agreement. In the first year, the total of 1351 goals was scored during the 480 matches in Allsvenskan and Superettan with the official match ball for the two top tiers in Sweden. In 2018 the ball changed its color from white to yellow and then 1346 goals was scored with the league ball.
In 2019, Allsvenskan and Superettan will be played with a yellow ball, this time with more blue elements.
”The lighter and darker blue color strengthens the identity of Allsvenskan while making it easier for football players to see the ball in an even earlier stage of the field. I think we will see even more goals in Allsvenskan in 2019”, says Richard Kjell.
Facts of the official league ball from SELECT:
The official league began to be used by all teams in Allsvenskan and Superettan starting in the 2017 season and will initially be used for a total of four years. The ball is manufactured and delivered by SELECT. SELECT has previously provided official league balls to eight other European leagues, including Danish Alka Superliga since 2015, Belgian Jupiter League since 2010 also to the German Bundesliga and to Dutch Eredivise, under the name Derbystar, since 2006.
In 2018 during all the 480 games 654 goals was scored in Allsvenskan and 692 goals in Superettan.
