Eurosport and Swedish channel five will show the Allsvenskan exclusively in Sweden for six seasons from 2020, Discovery Networks Sweden and the Swedish Elite Football Association (SEF) announce.

A new agreement will see Eurosport become the exclusive home of the Allsvenskan, Sweden’s premier football league, for the first time.  Eurosport will hold all broadcast and digital rights exclusively.  Under the agreement, Eurosport will also be the exclusive broadcaster of the Superettan, Sweden’s second-tier national league.

“We have conducted a thoroughgoing, open and transparent process where all interested bidders have been given the chance and done a great job. Based on this examination we have chosen Discovery, who presented the best total case and the best case in all parts. That is why we have decided to make this historic change starting from the 2020 season, and we look forward to this new cooperation with Discovery. We also would like to thank the current right holders C More for their excellent work and we are looking forward to work together for three more years with C More, says Mats Enquist, Secretary General, Swedish Elite Football Asssociation.

The Home of the Olympic Games in Sweden 2018-2024, the addition of the Allsvenskan establishes Eurosport as a leader in first-class, locally relevant and exclusive sport in Sweden. Eurosport’s football portfolio for fans in Sweden currently includes exclusive coverage of the Swedish national team’s 2018 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers, the 2017 UEFA European Under-21 Championship, where Sweden as the reigning champions, the German Bundesliga and the UEFA Europa League, with the final to be played at the Swedish National Stadium, Friends Arena, on May 24.
