Swedish Elite Football (SEF) is the association of all football clubs in the two top tiers of Swedish football Allsvenskan and Superettan. Our sports manager Stefan Lundin is now retiring after a long and worthy carrier. We are now looking for a new Sports Director to help us develop and to continue the work in how to become the Best League in Scandinavia.

SEF seeks a person who knows Swedish elite football, who is experienced from similar work in club and / or federation and has a large existing network in the area. The role of Sports Director in Swedish Elite Football is a priority role and it is important that the Sports Director is prepared to put a lot of commitment into the task. The service is at time very time consuming and requires many trips around the country to our clubs and academies.

Swedish Elitfotboll is running a project to become the Best League in Scandinavia (NBL) in a number of different areas, and in the role of the Sports Director, great importance is attached to achieving those goals. One of the major issues is how we get our talents to stay longer in Swedish football before leaving for a higher ranked league abroad and how we in the best way possible will succeed in getting our talents to take the final steps from talent to young stars through establishment in Allsvenskan and Superettan.

The Sports Director will work on three main areas of responsibility:

  1. To develop, support and drive the issues that concern the Sport Managers of the clubs. To drive Swedish Elite Football’s sporting issues against politicians, authorities and the Swedish Football Association, as well as European Leagues and UEFA / FIFA. For example tax issues, transfer issues, affiliate issues, migration and residence permit issues, etc. All in order to strengthen the sporting competitiveness of the Swedish elite football.
  2. To push and further develop the existing Academy initiatives, to review that we can continue to be successful in talent development, but also to take further steps to ensure that young talents stay longer within Swedish football before they leave for another European league and also that they develops into young stars before moving on. Of course, this also includes working to develop the competition structure for both our teams and young talents.
  3. To cooperate with the Swedish Football Association regarding other sporting developments such as competition, judging issues, coach development, district development and cooperation with the national team leaders.

The form of employment is permanent and refers to full-time working hours. The geographical base of the work can be discussed, but travel to the clubs as well as spending a certain amount of time each week at the Swedish Elite Football headquarters in Stockholm is a minimum requirement. The employment will start as a trial for six months. The number of holiday days, insurance and pensions follows the current Swedish union agreement and applicable laws.
