eAllsvenskan is one out of five nominees for the Sports Production of the Year award at Kristallengalan on August 30. Other nominees include this summers FIFA Womens World Cup and the Handball World Championships.
”This is a recognition of our fine collaboration with Dreamhack and Discovery Networks Sweden”, says Niclas Janson, Digital Development Manager at Swedish Professional Football Leagues.
eAllsvenskan, which is a collaboration between Swedish Professional Football Leagues, Dreamhack and Discovery Networks Sweden, was played for the first time in 2019. Twelve clubs from Allsvenskan and Superettan participated with their FIFA players in the league and eight of these clubs went on to playoffs. All matches were produced and broadcast by Discovery Networks Sweden in television, and in the streaming service Dplay. Around a thousand people followed the television production during the finals at the Annexet arena in Stockholm. Malmö FF won the first title by defeating Örebro SK in the channel 9 live broadcast final. For this eAllsvenskan is a nominee for Sports Production of the Year at Kristallengalan.
”We are extra delighted that we are a nominee the first year of eAllsvenskan. The television production and the broadcasts have helped to create interest in eAllsvenskan and I think the format makes it fun to watch eSport. We have created a thrilling entertainment that lifts FIFA gaming to a whole new level in Sweden. I think we have reached a group of people that traditionally otherwise does not watch television”, says Niclas Janson.
Kristallengalan is the Swedish television awards and serves as a qualitative prize and gala for Swedish television production. The award is ”instituted to stimulate the production of television programs with high content, artistic and technical quality and to give the Swedish television industry an opportunity to exchange views and experiences from the production of television programs”. A jury appoints the winners in each category.
Other nominees in the category Sports Production of the Year are the Swedish Hockey League Studio / Hockey Saturday, the Handball World Cup 2019, FIFA Womens World Cup and the Champions League Studio.
This year’s Kristallengala takes place at the Circus in Stockholm on Friday the 30th of August.
