196,760 spectators visited the two first rounds of Allsvenskan and Superettan.
“We have had some very nice and long-awaited first games”, says Ola Rydén, league manager at Swedish Professional Football Leagues.

The total for the 2022 Allsvenskan and Superettan first rounds – after one game each on home soil – is 196,760 spectators, which is a decrease of about 20,000 spectators compared to 2019.

“These are the expected figures. Even though it is the first premiere in three years with an spectators, we clearly see that the pandemic has changed people’s behavior and there is a certain challenge in getting the fans back to the stadiums”, says Ola Rydén and continues.

“But we must also think about this year’s stadium capacity in Allsvenskan and Superettan and that the initially cold premiere weather around the country are factors that also affect the crowd behavior”.

Allsvenskan was visited by a total of 171,945 spectators, which gives an average of 10,746 spectators per game. This is a reduction of a total of approximately 10,000 people compared to 2019, which was the last time spectators were allowed at the season premieres.

The Superettan’s corresponding figures are 24,815 spectators and an average of 1550 people per match. In 2019, that number was 31,832.

“This year’s premieres are on a par with the premiere in 2018. Then we received a total of 2.5 million visits for the entire season. I think we will end up somewhere around that figure again this year”, Ola Rydén concludes.

A total of 94 goals were scored in the Allsvenskan and Superettan in rounds one and two, an average of 2.9 goals per match.
