SELECT has created the world’s first football manufactured using ultrasound technology – Brillant Super UZ. This groundbreaking ball will now be used in Sweden’s top football leagues, Allsvenskan and Superettan.
The SELECT league ball was first introduced for the 2017 season, and 2025 will mark the ninth consecutive season with an official league ball for both Allsvenskan and Superettan. The current agreement extends through the 2028 season.
“We are proud that Brillant Super UZ has been chosen as the official match ball for Allsvenskan and Superettan. By using ultrasonic welding, we’ve created a ball that delivers outstanding on-field performance. Additionally, we’re pleased that our UZ footballs in 2025 will include recycled materials. We look forward to seeing this ball in action on Swedish pitches,” said Richard Kjell, Country Sales Manager at Svenska SELECT Sport AB.
Innovative Features and Sustainable Materials
The Brillant Super UZ is the result of years of research and development. It is designed to deliver an unmatched playing experience. The 2025 model features a new synthetic material, with up to 50% sourced from recycled PET bottles and bio-based materials derived from non-edible parts of corn.
The ball’s 32-panel construction, welded together using ultrasound waves, ensures exceptional precision and durability. The innovative 3D diamond texture optimizes friction between the ball and the boot, providing excellent control in all conditions for both players and goalkeepers. This texture also stabilizes the ball’s flight path, enabling precise passes and shots.
A newly developed inner layer with two types of foam and a Zero Wing latex bladder offers perfect balance and a soft feel. The ultrasonic welding minimizes water absorption, even in wet conditions, enhancing performance further.
Scoring Stats and Availability
In 2024, a total of 680 goals were scored in Allsvenskan and 633 goals in Superettan using SELECT’s league ball, averaging 2.73 goals per match across both leagues.
The 2025 league ball will be available in stores starting with the holiday season this year.
