Football Supporters Europe (FSE) is currently hosting a major conference for its members in Malmö. During the opening evening, Swedish Professional Football League’s chairman Jens T Andersson participated in a panel discussion under the theme Spotlight on Sweden.

“It was a positive and constructive conversation where we were asked to describe how we operate in Sweden,” says Jens T Andersson.

The conference was opened by UEFA Vice President Giorgio Marchetti. The panel discussion that followed was moderated by Tony Ernst and Sara Karlén. In addition to Jens T Andersson, the panel included Tryggve Pederby, Chairman of the Swedish Football Supporters Union (SFSU), as well as Agnes Gertten from Supporterhuset and Malmösystrar, and Markus Rignér from MFF Support.

For 90 minutes, the panel discussed the Swedish approach, which includes dialogue, the 51% rule, the absence of VAR, and much more.

“Sweden is often referred to as a best practice example in Europe, in terms of our dialogue-based methods and how we involve various stakeholders in our issues and challenges. That’s something we should be proud of and emphasize. The same goes for the 51% rule, which is almost unique in European football. We defend it in all circumstances,” concludes Jens T Andersson.

The FSE conference where around 200 supportars or stakeholders from 30 different countries are present will continue in Malmö throughout the weekend.
