2024 has been a successful year for the Allsvenskan and Superettan apps, as well as the club-specific apps for each team in the leagues. Ahead of the 2025 season, many new features will be introduced to make the apps even more club-centric and popular.
“We’ve seen a 50% increase in usage this year and received excellent user reviews. Us at the league, together with the clubs, aims to be the best in Sweden when it comes to sports apps,” says Stina Andreasson, Product Owner at Swedish Professional Football Leagues.
Currently, the apps – including club-specific versions – offer extensive statistics linked to video highlights. If users connect to the @fotboll arena network, available at most league stadiums, they can view instant replays during matches, both from the ongoing game and from other matches happening simultaneously. When a goal is scored or a card is issued, users can read about the event and watch it through the live score function. The app also provides direct links for ticket purchases, news articles, content from the streaming service Fotboll Play, Allsvenskan Fantasy, and match information from main partner Unibet.
Several new features were introduced towards the end of the year. In the 2025 season, clubs will be able to activate a “Player of the Match” feature, allowing fans to vote during games. It will also be possible to interact with clubs by liking and commenting on content and participating in quizzes.
“The apps are continuously developed in collaboration with the clubs in Allsvenskan and Superettan. Currently, we have nearly half a million users and hope everyone sees the app as a natural part of the match experience in Allsvenskan or Superettan. The potential for what the app can offer, especially between seasons, can always be improved. At the same time, it’s important to find a balance so that the match and the football experience remain the focus,” says Stina Andreasson.
