The Swedish football family are in grief. All thoughts regarding the terrorist attack in Brussels goes to the victims and their loved ones. After dialogue with the police and other authorities, the direction of Swedish Professional Football Leagues and the Swedish Football Association right now is that the upcoming round of matches in the Allsvenskan and Superettan will be played according to the original plan.
Swedish football urges all organizing clubs to – in addition to following the authorities’ national guidelines and advice – also cooperate with their local authorities to review possible additional measures other than what has already been added since the security level in the country was raised in August.
The government does not make a new assessment regarding the level of security in Sweden, whereby the general assessment is that the upcoming matches in the Allsvenskan and Superettan will be played according to plan.
Swedish Professional Football Leagues will follow the national authorities’ guidelines and advice in the matter. The clubs have an in-depth collaboration with local authorities. However, each match is unique and possible security measures are considered before each individual match.
The clubs will continue to take safety measures at their matches and therefore it is especially important for the audience to arrive at the arenas in good time.
The security measures may change after further discussions with the authorities.
