In connection with the annual meeting, Mats Enquist stepped down as Secretary General of Swedish Professional Football Leagues. At the same time Karl-Erik Nilsson was greeted for his time as chairman of the Swedish Football Association. A unanimous annual meeting also elected Mats as an honorary member of Swedish Professional Football Leagues.

“I am both touched and grateful for all the kind comments”, says Mats Enquist after the annual meeting.

Mats began his work at Swedish Professional Football Leagues in 2012. Under his leadership, SEF has grown from approximately SEK 270 million to approximately SEK 850 million in turnover and become the organization it is today, where SEF has also gained ground in several positions outside the football field.

“It has been an enormously challenging development journey, but also great fun to watch Allsvenskan and Superettan develop towards their true potential together with supporters, partners, employees and clubs”, says Mats Enquist.

“To leave my post is both sad and logical at the same time. Everything has its time. It is time for someone else now and it could not be a better time since we are in such a good position. It is a perfect opportunity for my successor to take the journey on to new heights”, says Mats Enquist.

Although Mats steps down from his post as CEO he will remain in a senior advisor role to support the board and the new general secretary during a transition period.

On Saturday, Karl-Erik Nilsson steps down from his post as chairman of the Swedish Football Association and was thanked by the annual meeting for his efforts for Swedish football.
