For the first time Allsvenskan and Superettan reach over three million stadium visits in a season. In addition, Allsvenskan as a 16-team league for the first time reaches over 10,000 spectators on average per match.

“We are happy and proud that, after many years of long-term work, we are reaching these milestones. I want to congratulate all our clubs for their hard work”, says Ola Rydén, league manager at Swedish Professional Football Leagues.

The 2023 season hits two spectator milestones. First of all the total number of arena visits for Allsvenskan and Superettan combined, which for the first time exceeds three million stadium visits, 3,028,537. Secondly Allsvenskan for the first time as a 16-team league has an average of over 10,000 spectators per match, 10,017.

Two matches during the season attracted over 40,000 spectators and two attracted over 30,000. The meeting between AIK and Djurgården in round 24 attracted the highest crowd, with a total of 41,327 visitors at Friends Arena. Three clubs – AIK, Hammarby and Malmö FF – have an average of over 20,000 spectators per match.

“The 2.4 million Allsvenskan stadium visits are the highest crowd total for the league ever. I want to take the opportunity to praise the clubs and their way of working with the marketing of their events but also to our fans and for the nice atmosphere they create in our arenas, says Ola Rydén.

Superettan also shows good numbers. The league total stands at 624,395, an average per game ending at 2,602 spectators.

“Superettan has had a huge spectator raise this year. 2023 has meant a crowd increase of over 70%. It is the fourth highest figure for the Superettan since the series was established in 2000”, concludes Ola Rydén.
