BK Häcken won the Swedish Cup final against Mjällby AIF. The final score was 1–4 (0–2). The result means that in addition to BK Häcken being cup champions, Kalmar FF qualifies for the UEFA Europa Conference League this summer.

At a packed Strandvallen, Mjällby AIF took on BK Häcken in the 2023 cup final on Thursday afternoon. Mjällby AIF was looking for its first cup title – while BK Häcken was chasing its third.

The first half was even. The visitors from Hisingen were not unexpectedly dangerous when they came up in the offensive penalty area – but the home team stood their ground and they too were able to get to a bunch of chances. But the clean sheet was intact, and also appeared to be so into the break.

But then BK Häcken and Ibrahim Sadiq struck – twice again. In the extra minutes of the first half, he was able to head in the lead before sending in 0–2.

And at the beginning of the second half, Mikkel Rygaard put in the team’s third after a cross from Kristoffer Lund – and the match felt settled. It also became clearer when Samuel Gustafsson extended the lead to four goals in the middle of the second half.

Mjällby AIF conceded a reduction goal at the end via an own goal, but the team did not get any closer than that. BK Häcken is the winner of the Swedish Cup 2023.

As BK Häcken, as Swedish Champions 2022, are already ready for qualifying games for the UEFA Champions League, Kalmar FF, as the fourth place in Allsvenskan 2022, takes the last qualifying place for the UEFA Europa Conference League this summer. The other two places for the qualification to the Conference League are held by Djurgården and Hammarby.
