After two rounds of Allsvenskan and Superettan when all 32 participating clubs each have played one home game it is clear that over 200,000 spectators attended the games. It is the best stadium attendance since 2017 for the first two rounds of Allsvenskan and Superettan.
“Looking at the number of spectators, this year is the best season opening in six years”, says Ola Rydén, league manager at Swedish Professional Football Leagues.

A total of 232,397 spectators found their way to the stadiums during the first two rounds. That is 35,637 more than the 196,760 attendances that attended the 2022 season but also 25,023 less than the 2017 season opener. An 18% increase compared to 2022.

“Both leagues see an increase compared to 2022. Above all, Superettan is pleasing to see, with an increase of over 80% compared to last year”, says Ola Rydén.

The first 16 matches of Allsvenskan have led to 186,601 visits, which means 11,663 spectators per game, while the opening of Superettan has been witnessed by 45,796 people or 2,862 spectators per game. In the case of Allsvenskan this means an increase of around 15,000 people compared to 2022. For Superettan this is an increase of around 21,000 people.

The largest attendance so far is AIK who attracted 32,178 spectators in their home opener against IFK Norrköping, closely followed by Hammarby, which attracted 30,941 spectators in their home opener against Degerfors IF. The highest attendance in Superettan was Helsingborgs IF, who in the first round attracted 8,717 spectators to Olympia, for the match against Östers IF.

“We hope that the positive development and the nice spring weather will continue so that the stands throughout Sweden will continue to be filled. Given that the interest of Allsvenskan and Superettan is increasing in all the measurements we do, it is only natural that there will also be more people in the stands”, concludes Ola Rydén.

A total of 74 goals were scored in Allsvenskan and Superettan in round one and two, an average of 2.3 goals per game.

In 2017, a total of 2,678,800 stadium visits were made during the season, divided between 2,180,952 in Allsvenskan and 497,848 in Superettan. The total stadium attendance record for Allsvenskan and Superettan, with 16 teams in the leagues, is from 2015 and currently stands at 2,781,702 (2,392,098 in Allsvenskan and 389,604 in Superettan) spectators.
