Due to the ongoing coronavirus outbreak, the Public Health Authority has requested the Swedish Government to limit public gatherings and public events. The Authority believes that the restriction should apply to meetings with a lower level of 500 people, which the Swedish Government is expected to shortly confirm.
The recommendations have immediate consequences for Swedish football, first of all this weekend’s matches in the Swedish Cup and in the Futsal League for both men and women.
The Swedish Football Association (SvFF), Swedish Professional Football Leagues (SEF) and Elite Football Women (EFD) have decided in consultation that the upcoming matches in the Swedish Cup for women and men, as well as the playoff matches in the Swedish Futsal League (SFL) for men and the Regional Futsal League (RFL) for women will be played behind closed doors. Match officials and representatives of the government and from media will be allowed to attend.
Questions regarding tickets purchased for the matches are handled by the respective organizer.
How the start of the national series will be handled is not yet clear. SvFF, SEF, EFD and the associations will conduct a dialogue on this.
