The sun was shining over Kallfors Golf Club outside Stockholm when the second edition of SEF Masters took place. In this year’s edition, elite football club staff and their business partners participated together with league representatives and the league official partners.
”This year’s competition was a significant boost in terms of the number of participants and our feeling is that we have already established SEF Masters as a future tradition”, says Jan Karlsson, Sales and Marketing Director at Swedish Professional Football Leagues.
In 2018, SEF Masters was organized for the first time. At that time, some thirty representatives participated. At this year’s edition, almost fifty people participated when the competition was again held at Kallfors Golfklubb outside Stockholm.
The contestants played Texas scramble in the form of teams of four players and at the end Djurgården IF was the winners of the competition.
”It was a very nice competition on a varied track with great challenges. In the end we could perform our best. Everyone in our ball contributed which makes it more fun. It was a good arrangement. We will all come closer together during such a competition. It is a nice a friendly atmosphere between the teams with a lot of prestige. We joked about this being the unofficial Swedish Cup in golf. It would be even more fun if more teams joined with their own golf team next year”, says Daniel Malmgren, Business Area Manager at Djurgårdens IF.
In addition to the main competition, participants had the opportunity to win prizes in several individual competitions, such as striking the longest drive and becoming closest to the hole. Participants also had to challenge golf professional Joakim Rask in two different moments.
After the competition, all participants received a prize for their performance on the golf course, and a buffet was offered inside the clubhouse. Another chance for all partners around Swedish elite football to meet in a nice and relaxed way.
Casper Lie Gustafsson, Responsible for Key Customers at DHL, was for the first time in SEF Masters and liked the way of networking.
”I got a very professional feeling of the whole arrangement already when I got there. It was the welcoming, it was the nice welcome kit, it was everything. For me as a newcomer in this context, the atmosphere means a lot. It is a great way to network. Golf is a sport where you can go and talk but also build relationships and create business. It makes a lot of sense that so many clubs were involved and it is important to us. The feeling is that everyone wants to come back next year”, says Casper Lie Gustafsson.
SEF Masters is undoubtedly an activity here to stay.
”I am glad that more people wanted to join the competition this year. It was really nice to hang out together. Kallfors is a beautiful course in varied nature, and the fine weather obviously contributed to an appreciated setting”, concludes Jan Karlsson.
”Like the Network arena, SEF Masters is starting to establish itself as a club and league-wide networking activity – an opportunity for the leagues and clubs partners to meet over they everyday borders and create relationships. At SEF Masters, we try to create an environment where everyone is the winner regardless of the result on the golf course”, says Kaveh Sarvari, event and private marketing manager at Swedish Professional Football Leagues.
The next SEF Masters will be played at the end of August 2020.
